Matt offers in-person lessons in his Alexandria, VA home studio. Please contact him at info@contemporarybodhran.com for rates and policies.

For Internet Lessons, you will need the following:

1. Computer with a webcam and microphone. (most webcams have built in microphones)

2. Skype or iChat account (free)

  1. 3.A Paypal Account (this can be established after receiving your first invoice)

4. A bodhrán and/or Scottish Pipe Band Sticks and a practice pad (contact Matt for more info).

Scheduling and Payment:

**** Lessons are open to students of all levels (including complete beginners) in ANY country. (Intermediate English Skills are required) Lessons may occur weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or in any other way that works for both the student and instructor.

**** To inquire about lessons, send an email to info@contemporarybodhran.com. Be sure to include your location. (example: Fenton, Michigan)  Matt will send you a student info sheet, a complete list of policies, and rates for 30 minute, 45 minute, and 60 minute lessons. All specific scheduling details will be arranged either through email or by telephone.

**** Before any payment is made, the student will have a short web consultation with Matt to make sure that all the equipment is working, ask questions, and get used to both the physical format of the lessons and Matt’s teaching style. Students are under NO obligation to sign up for lessons after this consultation.

4. If you decide to take lessons, a monthly invoice via Paypal will be sent to your e-mail account. Paypal is the safest way for everyone to send and accept money.

Benefits of Internet Lessons:

1. Students who do not have a bodhrán or Scottish Drumming teacher in their area are able to take private lessons. Also, students who are currently studying another method/sound can study Matt’s unique style of Celtic Percussion without having to travel.

2. No driving, and no cancellations due to weather

3. Lessons can be easily scheduled and rescheduled.

4. Students can record their lesson as it happens and use it as a reference. Parents can use the recorded lesson to monitor their child’s progress.
